Notes to eChevening applicants

Please read the following notes carefully before you start your eChevening application.

Chevening Scholarship Applications can be made only through eChevening, not through PDF file or post in Hong Kong and Macao. You can only access this website during the application period from 2 November 2009 to 15 January 2010.

The Username in the log-in screen is your log-in ID, not your own name. Many applicants cannot log in properly as they put in the wrong ID or password, so remember your ID and password for whenever you try to log in. If you cannot remember your ID or password you need to create a new ID and password. In order to go to the actual application page please follow these steps:

Log in → INFORMATION → Click 'OK' → APPLICATION DETAILS

If you do not fill in the Application form properly the application will not be completed and saved properly. Only when you fill in all parts of the application can you click "submit". When you just "save", you can add/amend the application. However, if you click "submit" this is the final step to submit your application. You cannot then amend or add to your application, or log in again. Therefore, you need to "save" to re-login and amend.

Please select "Hong Kong & Macao" as the Country of Citizenship option, then select either Hong Kong Chinese or Macao Chinese as the Nationality option.

In Additional details, when all columns do not show "100%", you cannot "save" the application, so please fill in all 8 columns properly.

If you are still waiting for the IELTS result, please type "TBC" on the IELTS boxes.

In "Academic Background", please click "ADD NEW DETAILS" not "OK" to save, after you have typed in your academic record. In "Professional Background", you need to click "ADD NEW DETAILS", too, just like for the "Academic Background" field. After you finish typing all records in the field, please click "OK" to save the records. The screen automatically moves on to "Application Details".

In "Proposed course details" you will see the question "Are you applying for a fully funded British Chevening Scholarship?". Please type "Yes".

In "Proposed course details", for British Chevening Postgraduate Scholarships applicants, please choose "Master"; while Chevening Shorter Specialist Scholarships applicants, please click "Other" and specify either "Reuters Foundation Programme" or "Sheffield 3-month intensive taught course"

In "Referee" field, please list two referees' names who will give you a reference letter. (You cannot change the referees after you submit the application, so please seek their agreement to provide references prior to completing the eChevening form.)

In "Statement", for British Chevening Postgraduate Scholarships applicants, please type "N/A" in the "Research Proposal" box. For applicants who are interested in Reuter Foundation Programme, please submit your research proposal as well in the "Research Proposal" box.

To avoid network traffic and disappointment, we encourage applicants to complete the eCheveing application as soon as possible before the deadline.

Once you click on "submit", you cannot log in, view or amend your application form again. Please print out your application before submission. You can simply click the "Print" tab on the bottom right corner of the Application page.
