Join our free demonstration lessons, parents' information sessions and English level tests.

Let our experienced teachers show you our teaching methodology and you can learn more about our courses while immersing your child in an English learning environment on 3 November 2013.

Besides enjoying classroom activities and demonstration lessons specially designed for Primary 1 to 6 students together with their child, parents will be able to participate in information sessions to get practical tips for helping their child at home with English. Free English level tests will be offered to Primary 3 to 6 students.

All activities are free of charge. Registration is required, and on a first-come, first-served basis. (Walk-in registration will not be available.)

Pre-School, Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary courses are open for registration, please visit our website for details. Register for selected courses during the event to enjoy special offer.

Demonstration lesson Students will participate in typical classroom activities, such as speaking, writing, and pair and group work, while parents observe.
Parents' information session Parents will learn more about our teaching methodology and course structure, and also receive tips for helping your children at home with English.
English level test Not applicable
(Primary 1 and 2 students are placed into courses according to their school level - no English level test is required.)
Free English level tests are only available to Primary 3 to 6 students who have not taken our placement test in the last six months (2 May 2013 to 2 November 2013). If students have taken our placement test in the last six months, their result is valid for six months from the date of the test.

* The British Council will not take responsibility for any unaccompanied children for any activity on the day. Children should be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Students experience a variety of arts and crafts while their parents go to a parents' workshop or information session.

Students will take part in a typical British Council lesson, while we explain to parents the underlying methodology behind our classroom activities and how they support children's learning at school.

Demonstration lesson – Using iPads to learn

Students will take part in a lesson in which tablet computers are used to support learning through communicative activities.

Parents' workshop – Moving up from Upper Primary to Junior Secondary 2

Your child's English learning: the next step. We will discuss how our course will help your child with the transition from P6 to S1. We will explore our curriculum and how it links to the HK education curriculum to help build the skills your child needs for S1 in their mainstream school.

Learn about the most popular English exams in Hong Kong and how to prepare for them.

Give your child a chance to practise the speaking test of a Cambridge English: Starters, Movers or Flyers exam with a British Council Examiner. Help your child gain confidence when they face the real exam.

Free English level test 5

Free English level test is available for students who have not taken our placement test in the last six months (6 January 2013 to 6 July 2013) and students who would like to register for a Cambridge Exam Preparation Course. If students have taken our placement test in the last six months, their result is valid for six months from the date of the test. Students registering for the Cambridge Exam Preparation Courses need to take a placement test and achieve the minimum score. The minimum age is 5.

Lulu the Hong Kong Cat is lost in a noisy Hong Kong street. She encounters different talking animals. Will she be able to find her way home? Let's find out from Ellen WY Leou, the author and illustrator.

About the author and illustrator: Ellen WY Leou is an architect and designer from California now based in Hong Kong. Having lived here for 15 years, her love of the local culture has inspired her to put the adventure of Lulu, her cat in two picture books - Lulu the Hong Kong Cat and Lulu the Hong Kong Cat: Christmas in Sham Shui Po.
