It is incumbent upon all of us to reduce transmission and do all we can to prevent the spread of HSI. In line with Education Bureau guidelines announced on 23 June to prevent the spread of Human Swine Influenza (HSI), we have adopted the following measures:
- Regularly cleansing and disinfecting our premises with frequent hand contact including lifts, toilet facilities and classrooms;
- Addition of more alcohol handrub dispensing machines and ensuring these are easily accessible at all times;
- Arrangements to reduce overcrowding such as asking parents / helpers to refrain from waiting in the British Council premises;
- Provision of face masks for British Council staff;
- Check of body temperature for primary students displaying flu-like symptoms. Primary students not bringing their temperature sheet to the class will also be checked. There is a downloadable form on our website which parents should record their child’s temperature and bring to the class;
- All sick children who are not feeling well or have a fever in class will be sent home. We will be grateful for your cooperation with us in picking up children and consulting the doctor immediately.
In addition, we are urging staff and students to pay attention to personal hygiene. The most important elements are frequent and proper hand hygiene, cough etiquette and avoid touching of eyes, nose or mouth as well as wearing of face masks when ill. |
