A veteran film critic and host of local TV shows, Paul is going to share with students his passion and interest in films. Paul will guide students in film appreciation starting with Great Expectations, one of the finest literary adaptations in the history of cinema. Audiences will also have the chance to learn about movie history and develop skills in writing film criticism.
This workshop opens to all local secondary students (priority will be given to F.4-F.6). Admission is free on a first-come-first-served basis. Interested schools please send an email with name of contact persons, telephone number, and expected number of participants to ukff07@britishcouncil.org.hk.

A native of the USA, Paul began studying Mandarin while still in high school and later attended university in America and Singapore. After earning a Masters Degree in cinema at the University of Southern California, he obtained a grant to research Chinese cinema at Beijing University.
For over 20 years he has lived in Hong Kong, where he has been a film critic for the South China Morning Post and host of over 1,000 TV shows in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, along with appearances in 20 movies.
His extensive collection of Chinese and Hong Kong movie memorabilia is highlighted in his book, Silver Light, A Pictorial History of Hong Kong Cinema 1920-1970. A collection of his reviews was published in At the Hong Kong Movies, 600 Reviews from 1988 Till the Handover.
Paul is a member of the Hong Kong Film Critics Association, the Hong Kong Film Critics Society, and the Performing Artists Guild of Hong Kong, and is an Honorary Advisor (Film) for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
