Xu Xi a pioneer writer from Asia in English (The New York Times) |
Xu Xi is a novelist/short fiction writer/essayist and is the author of six books and numerous short works. Her latest titles are Overleaf Hong Kong, a collection of stories and essays of the Chinese, overseas and a novel The Unwalled City. She also compiled and co-edited the first comprehensive anthologies of Hong Kong English prose, poetry and drama. A new collection of personal essays, Evanescent Isles, will appear next year. A Chinese-Indonesian native of Hong Kong, she splits her time between New York, Hong Kong and New Zealand. She is currently on the faculty at Vermont College's MFA writing program and also teaches writing workshops at UCLA, the University of Hong Kong and Stockholm University.
